Greg Anderson, who was a long time resident of Athens, OH, passed away at age 51 on September 30, 2010. Greg was involved in the local music scene during the 80s and 90s and would often perform at Mr. Bojangles, O’Hooley’s Irish Pub, and the Union. In addition, he was a member of the “Heart Mind Ensemble” (Joe Algren, Dave Borowski, Jothiratnam, Dan Reed, Dave Stone, and Bill Van Riper) and the “Mr. Hilary” band. Greg played several instruments but loved playing his old Martin guitar. He was a band member and the lyricist for the Algy Krebbs Quartet (Carbondale, IL).

Greg earned degrees from BGSU and Ohio University. He was a 1988 recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Grant for fiction, and published his writing in numerous literary magazines. Greg was interested in screen-writing and had become involved in a project shortly before falling ill to cancer.

During the last years of his life, Greg mastered the game of Texas Hold ‘Em. He played weekly at The Shriners in The Plains, and also competed statewide, winning the Ohio Texas Hold ‘Em tournament in Columbus in 2008. Greg was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes fan who attended games regularly.

Greg had an amazing sense of humor and loved life. He is missed by so many but especially his partner of 30 years, Deb Anderson.
